Cloud storage offerings firm Filesonic will deploy content identification and management services provider Vobile’s vCloud9 to check all files when they are uploaded to its site, including compressed files, for copyright infringement.
vCloud9 is a digital protection technology that enable sites to examine content, match it to Vobile’s extensive database of digital content ‘fingerprints’ and pull the questionable content before publication.
vCloud9 addresses the compressed files hidden in cloud storage sites, files previously immune to identification, identifies content contained within compressed files and helps cloud storage sites comply with international copyright law.
Vobile claims that vCloud9 provides content owners with a tool to manage the distribution and monetisation of their content over the Web.
Filesonic Communications manager Sara Parr said given the volume of data on Filesonic’s servers, Filesonic went looking for an effective method of checking every media or compressed file uploaded and chose Vobile’s vCloud9 as the most effective offering to meet that criteria.
"Filesonic’s implementation of vCloud9 is one of many steps our company has undertaken to deal with copyright infringement, and we look forward to having vCloud9 as part of our arsenal," said Parr.
