Apple is expected to launch its new iPhone version on 10 September 2013 at its Cupertino headquarters in California.
The iPhone 5S incorporates a fingerprint scanner to stop others from accessing the device as well as a faster processor and improved camera.
The firm is also expected to debut the iPhone 5C, which is a low-cost version of the phone, targeted at budget customers in emerging markets including China.
Apple will also launch an upgraded version of its iOS mobile operating system, which powers the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices.
The new iOS7 features revamped e-mail, calendar and photo applications as well as new fonts, icons and a brighter colour scheme.
Apple’s new devices are to go on sale on 20 September 2013, following the introduction on 10 September.
Other launches at the event may include iTunes Radio while updated iPad and iPad mini tablet versions are expected to be launched in October 2013.
Apple has recently begun a trade-in programme at its US retail stores for older iPhone models.
