Under the agreement, Becton-Dickinson will integrate Accelrys’ SciTegic Enterprise Server into its BD AttoVision software.

Utilizing Accelrys’ SciTegic Enterprise Server (SES), the new integrated system is expected to improve the analysis, categorization, storage and reporting of images and data generated on Becton Dickinson’s high content screening instrumentation, resulting in higher productivity for BD customers. A commercial version of the integrated product is expected to be available to Becton-Dickinson customers by the middle of calendar year 2009, said Accelrys.

This collaboration will provide BD customers with an enhanced, feature-rich service for the data analysis component of the BD Pathway instrument platform. The enhanced analytical capabilities of Accelrys’ SES will give BD a competitive advantage and product differentiation, resulting in efficiencies and reduced costs for BD customers, added Accelrys.

Mark Emkjer, president and CEO of Accelrys, said: This agreement marks the expansion of our product into the high content screening marketplace and is consistent with our overall strategy to build a network of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) relationships and broaden our distribution channels. In addition, the agreement underscores the value of our product to hardware providers and validates an exciting market opportunity. As we continue to add OEM partners, we will begin to build a solid revenue stream from royalties and up-selling opportunities.
