Samsung has launched its slimmest smartphone to date, the Galaxy A8, in China and Singapore.
The smartphone is 5.9mm thick, which is 85% less than Galaxy S6 Edge, and weighs 151 grams, making it one of the slimmest phones released by the South Korean company.
Despite the thin frame, Samsung has included all the features that are expected from a quality smartphone. It features 3,050mAh battery, 5.7 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display, 16 MP rear camera and 5 MP front camera.
Powered by Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615, it features 16-32 GB internal storage option, and has 2 GB RAM with expandable memory of up to 128 GB along with a 4G chip.
The phone will be available in Pearl White, Midnight Black, Champagne Gold colours and will run on Android OS, v5.1 (Lollipop), and features fingerprint sensor.
It is available for pre-order in China and Singapore for CNY3,199 (£330).
Samsung is not the only company to launch compact phones as Chinese companies like Oppo previously released R5 smartphone, which is 4.85mm thick, Gionee Elife S5.1 is 5.1m thick and Vivo X5 Max is 4.75mm thin.
It is not known when or if the company will release the next generation smartphone in UK and rest of Europe.
