Palm has launched an update to its web OS, which comes with enhancements to its App Catalog and improvements in battery life optimisation when in marginal coverage areas. It is available for Palm Pixi and Palm Pre smartphones, both of which are exclusive to the Sprint Nextel network.
Palm has improved application download experience in the App Catalog and enables users to download multiple applications simultaneously. Users can also manually pause, resume and cancel downloads.
The new update allows users to continue downloads in the background and gives more control over how to allocate the phone’s storage space across applications, music, photos and other media. It also allows users to launch sprint navigation from an address in an open contact entry in contacts; ensures phone response to user actions, including times when the user is using multiple applications/features at the same time.
In addition, the new offering supports the display of animated GIFs; includes a security fix to the dev portal, enables users to edit forwarded text for all email account types and also displays associated email address with account names in account list view.
