The Intelligent Services Edge will enable the user with services like broadband services routing, which extends subscriber management technology from E-series Broadband Services Routers to the M- and MX-series platforms. Also the dynamic application awareness leverages security and policy management to provide stateful, subscriber-aware application monitoring, enabling advanced, application-specific service levels and QoS treatments.

Facilitating the architectural integrity of Juniper’s Junos software and M- and MX-series platforms, the Intelligent Services Edge is expected to enable providers to deliver a range of services over a single operating system with maximum scale.
The service also includes intrusion prevention that provides application layer security leveraging Juniper Networks advanced Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDP) technology. Also the session border control functionality manages VoIP and multimedia sessions to ensure good service and security for VoIP and multimedia applications.

According to the company, the Intelligent Services Edge is claimed to enhance the power of Junos by adding edge services: Broadband services routing; Intrusion prevention; and Session border control functionality.

Manoj Leelanivas, senior vice president and general manager of the edge and aggregation business unit at Juniper Networks, said: This will enable service providers to monetize their networks by improving service flexibility and velocity, while also delivering maximum scale to meet increasing demand for new services.
