Comcast, a US-based provider of communications products and services, will roll out its 50Mbps high-speed internet service in Washington in December 2008.
According to the company, in December 2008, its new services will be available to residential homes and businesses throughout the communities that the company serves.
As part of the wideband deployment, Comcast will launch two new speed tiers to its residential and business class customers. Both the new services are ideal for households or businesses simultaneously using several computers or Internet-connected devices, claims the company.
New residential tiers include Extreme 50, which will offer up to 50Mbps of downstream speed and up to 10Mbps of upstream speed at $139.95 per month; and Ultra, which will offer up to 22Mbps of downstream speed and up to 5Mbps of upstream speed at $62.95 per month. Business customers can sign up for the Deluxe 50Mbps/10Mbps tier for $189.95 per month, which includes a full suite of features and support.
Len Rozek, senior vice president for the Washington market at Comcast, said: “Wideband utilizes our fiber optic network that is already in the ground in neighborhoods across our footprint. With this service, our customers’ online experience is enhanced.”
