Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates’ privately held Corbis, a digital content and services provider, has launched GreenLight Music, an online sync licensing solution for popular music.

The new music service has been launched with the support of four major music companies of EMI, Universal, Warner and Sony/ATV Music.

It allows users to secure usage rights to over one million songs.

Corbis chief executive officer Gary Shenk said GreenLight Music is an online solution that takes music licensing from a complex process, to a simple, online experience requiring only a few clicks.

"Now, customers who would have shied away from using popular music can come to GreenLight Music to discover, search, select and purchase the iconic songs they want, quickly and easily online."

Corbis operates from out of North America, Europe, Asia and Australia and serves more than 50 countries.
