The communications regulator in South Korea, the Korea Communications Commission (KCC), has ordered Aple to pay a fine for breaching privacy laws in the country. Technology watchdog in France is also investigating the same concerns in the European country as well.
KCC has fined Apple’s local operation 3 million won ($2,830). However, Google was not fined.
Apple Korea spokesman Steve Park said iPhones did not collect the location data of users.
"Apple is not tracking the location of your iPhone. Apple has never done so and has no plan to ever do so," he told AFP.
According to an AFP report, the regulator in France CNIL has said that it is investigating the iPhone feature that tracks and stores location data of users without thier knowledge.
In April this year, the discovery of a location trackers in mobile phone OS’ including iOS and Android by British researchers Alasdair Allan and Peter Warden raised privacy concerns across the world.
CNIL chief Yann Padova said, "We have sent two letters to Apple, who have responded to us in part. We received some clarifications, but they were not complete. The file is still under investigation."
