Appirio, a cloud services provider, has been selected by the UK Government’s cloud procurement framework, G-Cloud III.

The San Francisco-based company will provide infrastructure services to improve costs and services for public sector organisations.

Lori Williams, general manager at Appirio, Europe, said: "We’re proud to have been selected as a provider on the latest G-Cloud iii initiative, as it enables us to extend our offering to public sector organisations at a time when departments are under increasing pressure to reduce costs and become more efficient."

"We see G-Cloud as an important step change in the provision of public sector IT services and are already working with organisations to help them transform the ways in which they operate internally and externally," added Williams

Under the G-Cloud framework, all central government ICT procurement agencies must consider a cloud offering before opting for ‘on-premise’ options.

Appirio, which established its European presence in 2011, provides crowdsourcing solutions for businesses like Facebook, L’Oreal and The Four Seasons.
