Ntl:Telewest Business has installed its next generation network to connect motor insurance company Admiral Group’s new contact centre in Newport, south Wales, with other sites in Cardiff and Swansea.
The high-speed 50 Mbps National Ethernet circuits have been delivered entirely over ntl:Telewest’s access and core networks along with a BT local link. This ensures uninterrupted connectivity at the contact centre even during the failure of a link, as the traffic can be transferred to the other link.
Steve Webster, IT director for Admiral Group, said: “By using the next generation ntl:Telewest Business network together with an independent link from the BT network, our information is available fast, and is completely protected against the risk of one network experiencing a failure. The investment in National Ethernet circuits ensures that our new contact centre benefits from optimum resiliency.”
The National Ethernet circuits enable all agents at the new contact centre to access customer records and other policy information.
A part of the Virgin Media group, ntl:Telewest Business’ £13billion NGN provides data, internet and voice services to businesses, public sector organisations and service providers across the UK. Its customers include Birmingham City Council, Yorkshire Water, EasyJet, South East Water, University of Bedfordshire and more. Ntl:Telewest claims to be the only telco with UK-wide NGN, while Thus is its competitor in the sector.
Nia Morgan, sales manager for ntl:Telewest Business in Wales, said: “The ntl:Telewest Business network has become highly attractive for providers wanting next generation communications speeds and flexibility, and the addition of a local BT link alongside that means services can be retained unaffected even in the event of a major network outage.”
Recently, Arora International Hotels has installed ntl:Telewest’s high-speed network to deliver data and video services to its guests, conference delegates and operational teams.
Ntl:Telewest has also connected 2,500 employees of Countrywide, a provider of estate agency and property-related finance and professional services, to the high-speed resilient network.
