HP has collaborated with Microsoft to expand its Converged Cloud portfolio with joint HP and Microsoft services which is expected to extend the reach of cloud services all through infrastructure, applications and information.
Features of the HP and Microsoft Joint Private Cloud initiative include faster on-ramp to cloud deployment, easier management all through physical and virtual environments and single-source commitment with Window Server 2012 and Microsoft System Centre 2012 SP1.
HP Enterprise Group senior vice president Stephen DeWitt said as customers move to private clouds, they are looking for a simplified approach that minimizes risks, increases their flexibility and allows for greater cost savings.
"Through this relationship with Microsoft, we’re providing customers with a trusted, single-source experience to provide them an easy on-ramp to cloud," DeWitt said.
Both the firms have also collaborated to deliver a two-node HP Departmental Private Cloud Reference Architecture which merges HP Converged Infrastructure with ‘shared nothing’ live migration, Hyper-V replica and other abilities of Microsoft’s new Windows Server 2012 .
Microsoft Windows Server Marketing corporate vice president Michael Park said because Windows Server 2012 was built from the cloud up, it represents a transformational leap for businesses.
"The HP Converged Cloud solutions with Windows Server 2012 give customers a clear path to go beyond virtualization and accelerate their journey to the cloud," Park said.
"With this private cloud agreement and more than 30 years of proven cooperation, HP and Microsoft are committed to helping customers drive success for their organizations as they experience the benefits of the cloud."
HP CloudSystem’s interoperability feature between HP Insight Management and Microsoft System Centre, will allow System Centre to use, observe and update HP infrastructure with no requirement of switching between multiple consoles.
According to HP, the select HP Converged Cloud solutions, which include the HP Departmental Private Cloud Reference
Architecture, are currently on sale, while services which need Systems Centre 2012 SP1 will be launched in early 2013.
