There are so many apps available for music today to help you discover new artists, identify songs and stream music. Below are a few of the many music apps out there. Are there any of your favourites you’d like to include?
Piki, unveiled by Turntable, allows you to pick the best songs from their iTunes library or using a Shazam-like feature to scan a tune that’s playing close by. You can then match up with your friends who have similar music tastes by connecting through Twitter or Turntable.fm. You can then create a radio station based on the songs that have been recommended.
Twitter’s #music app mines for activity on the social network to determine popular songs, providing a personalised radio station based on the tastes of the people you follow. The app features artists shown on a grid that you can stroll up and down.
Soundhound helps you find out the name of a song you don’t know by recording and analysing the incoming audio and matching it to a big database of songs.
