At the top end, the company announced the IP2250, an $80,000, 7.5Gbps firewall throughput device that director of product marketing Dan Reis described as the first time we’ve really targeted the highest end market for firewalls.
The device employs network processors to take workload off the CPU, and leverages Check Point’s SecureXL 2.1 hardware acceleration support to increase performance. Combined with IPSO 3.8, it can also run diskless, booting from compact flash.
Also announced yesterday was the 1220, aimed at mid-to-large sized enterprises, which sells for $33,000 and handle 2.4Gbps of large packet firewall throughput, up to one million simultaneous firewall connections.
