According to the company, the TruLink system will be used by five-member Aeromedical Evacuation teams to provide voice communications between team members, thereby enhancing the safe transport and care of patient’s on-board military aircraft. The system is designed for simultaneous, multi-user, voice conferencing and implements advanced proprietary software to facilitate hands-free communications. The TruLink system has gone through environmental and operational testing for immediate use on USAF C-17A, and C-130E/H/J variant aircrafts.

Phil Nicholas, president of communication systems division at Telephonics, said: The TruLink wireless intercommunication system is being widely used across the Army, Navy and Air Force to enhance the safety of our military personnel while undertaking dangerous and critical operational missions.

The Intercommunication System (ICS) will consist of the Telephonics NetCom-V  Wireless networked intercommunications system integrated with the TruLink intercommunication system. This integrated system will permit both wired and wireless operators to communicate over long-range radios with digital capability as well as being on a common voice network for local communications for ground operations, launch and recovery, refueling, etc. The TruLink wireless system was selected for Army aircraft and is being deployed on multiple platforms. It is the Aircraft Wireless Intercom System (AWIS), an integral part of PEO Soldier’s Air Warrior’s suite.

In June 2008, Telephonics was selected for the Northrop Grumman’s MQ-8B Fire Scout program to provide ground control shelter communications management for a demonstration MQ-8B Fire Scout Unmanned Aerial System (UAS).
