Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) and Alphabet’s Google have partnered once again to introduce an infotainment and connected car platform with an Android in-car system. The in-car system, dubbed Uconnect, will make its debut at CES 2017, with the Android 7.0 Nougat-powered system set to be displayed inside a Chrysler 300 sedan.
According to FCA, at CES 2017 the company will demonstrate the new system which will feature core infotainment features including radio and comfort controls.
Being integrated with Android, Uconnect will be built for connectivity and compatibility with several popular Android applications.
FCA claims that the new system has been integrated with Google Assistant, Google Maps 
and other Android applications such as Pandora, Spotify, NPR One and Pocket Casts.
Google Android Engineering director Patrick Brady said: “Google is committed to building Android as a turn-key automotive platform that integrates deeply with the vehicle in a safe and seamless way.
“This collaboration with FCA brings together the industry standard for connected car systems with Android to create powerful infotainment systems designed for the digital age.”
FCA Electrical Engineering head Chris Barman said: “This collaboration with Google has been an extremely beneficial opportunity for both companies to explore how in-vehicle infotainment and connectivity technology continues to evolve, and what it takes to meet consumers’ increasing desire for innovation of information with minimal distraction.
“With Android, we are able to maintain our unique and intuitive Uconnect user interface, all while integrating our easy-to-use systems with Android’s features and ecosystem of applications.”
The new system is being claimed as the next step for Android Auto which debuted in 2015.
The collaboration between Google and FCA is not part of the self driving car project being undertaken under Waymo.
Recently, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles had supplied 100 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid minivans for Alphabet’s Waymo.
