Fast Multimedia AG, the fast moving Munich-based producer and vendor of digital video editing hardware, has developed a one-board offering for digital video at the personal computer. Movie machine II, which is a combination of Fast’s three top selling products, is an all-in-one-offering for digital video. The 16-bit AT bus board includes a live video mixer (live mixing and editing of videos, insertion of digital video effects, graphics and texts), an overlay board, frame grabber and television tuner. The package can be enhanced with the M-JPEG extension, which is a piggyback board designed to be plugged onto the Movie Machine II for compressing and decompressing live video to and from hard disk. The package also includes Adobe Premiere 4.0 LE and XingMPEG Encoder. It runs with a variety of operating systems and a version for Windows95 is planned as well. The complete package costs about $1,350. Fast Multimedia was formed in September 1994, as a subsidiary of Fast Electronic; it estimated 1994 turnover at $33m.
