Madison, Wisconsin-based Dynatech Communications Corp has launched a spate of new products, including its entry into the Frame Relay arena. The company has also established a new local area network products group to be based at its UK headquarters in Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire. As well as the Frame Relay software, which is a #2,000 upgrade to its CPX-20 X25 product, Dynatech has announced CPX-Sync, a new access support system. It provides support for multiple access protocols over single protocol networks on an individual port basis, and costs #4,000 in its base configuration. The CPX-SAS is a security access server, with an entry-level price #5,600, and it controls calls in a packet-switched network. It has four X25 ports, with a cascade option for larger networks, and runs at speeds of up to 64Kbps. Dynatech’s new gateway, the CPX-Gate, costs #4,500 and it provides facilities like address removal, clear cause shifting and prefix deletion, while DynaGate is the company’s new modular bridge-router for Ethernet, Token Ring, and FDDI networks. It supports TCP/IP, IPX, DECnet and IS-IS protocols, and has both X25 and Frame Relay compatibility. Up to 22 local networks can be connected, with cascading for larger numbers, while bridging facilities include Source Routing Transparent and Spanning Tree options. Wide area network routing uses Shortest Path First with average forwarding rates of 4.8Kbps to 2.048Mbps, and it costs #8,500. Among the the new network management products on offer is Dyna-View, a DN25 management system that provides a colour highlighted network overlay with zoom facility. It costs #2,000. Other products in this area include Superpatch – entry-level price #2,000 – for remote monitoring of test access, and it provides programmable network alarm detection and notification. The Enterprise Access System is a high speed channel monitoring device costing #3,000 and it offers circuit access for testing and monitoring on a 24 signal bus and a 16 signal bus. Finally, the Prism XE is a performance management system based on Unisys Corp hardware and geared towards X25 applications. It provides graphical reports on network health and information to provide Service Level Agreements.
