The company said that it will provide a widget gallery to users to choose their widgets on the Yahoo mobile homepage which can be accessed through the browser or through Yahoo Go 3.0 application that can be downloaded on phones. The users will also be able access services like eBay bidding and mail from Myspace through the existing widgets developed by Yahoo partners along with the flexibility to place frequently used links on their homepages.

While the widgets will be free to use, Yahoo said it will allow developers to include display ads and sponsored search in their widgets to earn revenue. The company also said it plans to support other advertising networks brought in by developers through a plug-in. It will also provide developers with software development kit, tools and support in the coming weeks.

Yahoo also launched a beta version of its flagship mobile service stack Yahoo Go 3.0 with claims of an upgraded user surface, personalized start page and customizable access to the widgets from the mobile developer platform. The Yahoo Go 3.0 will also be available on 30 handsets in the US initially.
