Wavecom has completed the pre-production phase of a joint development project with Japanese auto parts manufacturer Denso for automotive telematics based on its wireless technology and will provide the wireless communication module to support Denso’s telematics programme.

The current product will be implemented to support a new in-car convenience telematics programme in North America. The programme including SafetyConnect will appear in the market from late summer 2009.

Didier Dutronc, president of Wavecom Asia-Pacific, said: In 2006, Wavecom signed a joint agreement for a custom module design to be integrated in to the Denso telematic system. We are extremely honoured that Wavecom has been selected by Denso, a recognised world leader in automotive electronics to explore the telematics design and development. This design will be integrated in the telematic system and will be in production starting from 2009.”
