The new booking service delivers content related to theatre locations, shows and performance times, ticket pricing and other related information on smartphones. The service is currently available for iPhones, Gphones and Nokia S60 or newer, and smartphones running Symbian V3.

Founded in 2005, iXit makes web-based content available on mobile phones. iXit technology helps in the development of integrated suites of Mobile Micro-Applications (MMAPPs). These MMAPPs enable mobile users to get relevant content from their preferred content providers, without the need to download entire web pages. The content can be regularly and automatically refreshed in real-time.

Andy Armstrong, CEO of iXit, said: “People have a very low tolerance for delays in downloading web content to their mobiles. 98% of iPhone users want to access the internet from their phone and browse in the same way that they would on their PC or Mac. Research shows that up to 85% of smartphone users in the UK are dissatisfied with the web experience on their mobile.”

IXit technology has been developed using delivery techniques, including Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX) to deliver small amounts of data at a time so that the page being viewed is updated incrementally.

According to iXit, its technology ensures that mobile users accessing www.ukticketsmobile.co.uk service get only that data which they want. It formats the content for the small screen. This means riddance of unnecessary graphics and banner ads.
