European Connect is based on a capped daily fee for a specified amount of data traffic and will be introduced for TeliaSonera’s customers in Sweden, Denmark and Norway and with selected European mobile operators. Finland and Lithuania will launch European Connect in 2009.

Kenneth Karlberg, president of business area mobility services at TeliaSonera, said: We want to offer our customers decent prices when using their laptops for mobile data abroad. To this end, we reduce mobile data roaming prices further by introducing European Connect based on max day charge. Going forward, new offerings with reduced prices for mobile data will be launched based on negotiations with additional operators, both in Europe and other parts of the world.

Earlier in October, TeliaSonera launched a new media distribution service consisting of a unique content publishing platform together with IP netrwork MPS Broadband.  The company’s media distribution service will offer a complete end-to-end service for upload, storage and distribution of video content to the end user over it’s IP backbone. The service will also handle all aspects of content management, business models, DRM, security, reporting, statistics and end-user interfaces. Headquartered in Sweden, the core foundation of all MPS products and services is the MPS Publishing Platform (MPP) which is an end-to-end content management platform for web-TV, mobile video and IPTV.
