GTT Communications has chosen Global Cloud Xchange (GCX) to deliver 100 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity between the US and Europe via its Trans-Atlantic FA-1 North and South cables.
GTT, who provide cloud networking solutions for multinationals, will use GCX’s Trans-Atlantic FA-1 network, which carries more than 4Tbps of business data.
"The addition of 100 Gigabit waves increases our backbone capacity by deploying advanced network infrastructure," said Rick Calder, GTT President and CEO. "Working with GCX enables us to expand bandwidth capability and deliver advanced cloud networking services to multinational clients across a highly resilient and low-latency network."
The partnership will allow GTT to meet the ever-growing bandwidth demand in this region in a more cost-effective way. The FA-1 North submarine network connects London and New York, while the FA-1 South submarine network links New York and Paris.
Wilfred Kwan, Chief Operating Officer, GCX, commented: "We are seeing an increasing demand for high-bandwidth connectivity, driven by new technology and cloud-based applications, and we must always ensure that our network leads the industry in terms of technology and cost efficiency.
He added: "Our continued investments in Trans-Atlantic FA-1 network provide large enterprises, carriers and wholesale customers such as GTT, with world-class infrastructure, while delivering additional capacity along the critical Trans-Atlantic corridor today and in the future."
