Server Technology, the manufacturer of power distribution products for enterprise data centres and service providers, has released a new version of its Sentry Power Manager (SPM) software.

According to the company, SPM – which is capable of monitoring and managing multiple Sentry devices in IP-based enterprise networks – provides a global view of all Sentry Power Distribution Units (PDUs) with the ability to view devices based on their temperature, humidity, current and device status. It can also be used to provide reporting and trending information.

The company claimed that its new 4.1.0 version incorporates some new features to meet the needs of the data centre managers to provide them a tool which monitors and manages multiple PDUs across one or multiple data centres.

According to the company, the new version’s enhancement includes an operating system change from Windows XP to Linux that allows increased security and functionality.

The version provides a new view display size with scrolling capability, which allows users to import larger images and maps for their visual PDU layout. There are also faster network communications and CDU discovery, along with improved alarming and logging with more information and a descriptive popup alarm list, said company.

The company added that the new version features two new power reports, a collapsible side menu to increase view display area, cosmetic improvements, and support for automated upgrades.
