UK-based cloud computing and managed hosting services provider iomart Group has acquired the Melbourne Server Hosting for about £7m.
Under the terms of acquisition, iomart will acquire Melbourne’s two data centres and offices on the Manchester Technopark, plus its nearby disaster recovery facility.
Manchester based Melbourne provides managed hosting applications to about 600 customers and the company also operates datacentres in Manchester.
iomart Group CEO Angus MacSween said the acquisition establishes its first physical data centre presence in the North of England.
"It increases iomart Group’s network of fully owned and managed UK data centres to seven and puts us firmly at the heart of the growing online and media business hub that Manchester has become," MacSween said.
The acquisition will help the Melbourne Server Hosting customers to benefit from the extensive web hosting services, 24/7 technical support and high Service Level Agreements offered by iomart Group.
Iomart has recently completed the acquistion of another web hosting firm Skymarket in a deal worth £1.24m.
