Information and communications technology (ICT) company Huawei has announced the commercial availability of, what it calls, the world’s first LTE TDD wireless broadband router.
The company claims the Huawei B593 supports LTE TDD and FDD, features a download speed of up to 100M and provides access to up to 32 Wi-Fi devices as well as desktop computers through an Ethernet cable.
The Huawei B593 will be made available through Saudi Arabian operator Mobily in October this year, in conjunction with the commercial availability of large-scale LTE TDD networks worldwide, said Huawei.
Huawei Device head of Mobile Broadband LTE division Hu Guangping said the Huawei B593 provides bandwidth comparable with that of fixed broadband and that operators can now provide superfast Internet without the need for fixed network infrastructure.
Hu Guangping added, "This enables operators to expand their subscriber base in a more flexible and cost-effective way. The B593 is testimony to Huawei’s leadership in LTE. Our early investment in LTE has brought us a large number of core technology patents and we are one of the few vendors in the industry that can provide both LTE TDD and LTE FDD end-to-end solutions."
"Our focus on the needs of our customers – operators and consumers – is a key reason that Huawei continues to provide industry-leading products such as the B593, LTE datacards and LTE wireless broadband routers, as well as our award-winning Mobile WiFi products," Hu Guangping said.
The company said that the Huawei B593 is also an ideal home entertainment and information exchange hub, providing multiple devices simultaneous high-speed Internet access, high-definition video downloads and real-time video viewing and transmission.
The B593 is also perfect for SOHO’s and small businesses with its connectivity options to VOIP telephone and fax, printers and other office equipment, claimed Huawei.
