The Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) 2013 Vendor Analysis report, which assessed 10 vendors in the IDIM market, selected Emerson as a leader for all of its DCIM solutions.

Solutions included the Trellis platform, the Avocent Universal Management Gateway, Avocent Data Center Planner and Avocent Rack Power Manager.

Jennifer Koppy, a research manager at IDC, said: "The Trellis platform, in particular, represents the realisation of many DCIM wish lists by delivering a single pane of glass that enables users to monitor, control, and analyse data centre assets in real time."

Emerson said its DCIM technology helps to meet the needs of data centres by providing infrastructure monitoring and management.

The company also teamed up with IBM earlier this year to bring a clear picture of data centre operations, by allowing clients to understand and respond to their data centres.

Christopher O’Connor, VP of strategy and engineering at IBM, said: "Together with Emerson Network Power we are addressing client demand for a holistic, real-time view of their data centre across facilities and IT resources, with the information they need to improve overall operational efficiency."
