CPCNet has entered into a partnership with Riverbed Technology to provide managed WAN optimisation service TrueCONNECT Accelerator in the greater China region.
Powered by Riverbed’s WAN optimisation offering, TrueCONNECT Accelerator can optimise applications over WAN for file-sharing, sending emails with attachments, collaboration and surfing the net and databases. It can be adapted to TrueConnect MPLS-based (Multi Protocol Label Switching) IP VPN platform and works with TrueCONNECT QoS, VoIP, video conferencing and other real-time traffic, the company said.
According to CPCNet, the new platform reduces number of Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) round-trips and delays, and makes utilisation of existing bandwidth to boost application performance and running more applications. Data can be replicated securely over the WAN and reduces replication times from hours to minutes.
The company said that the new offering can be deployed without any changes to applications, users, routers or other IT infrastructure. Visualisation is enhanced by integrating with CPCNet’s Traffic Monitoring Service (TMS), with which centralised traffic analysis reports can be produced.
Randy Schirman, vice president of service provider sales at Riverbed, said: The need to access useful information anytime, anywhere puts tremendous strain on enterprises to support an increasing amount of data and an ever growing number of applications over their WANs. Nowadays, however, companies seek to centralise their application servers to reduce total cost.
“This is difficult, as the performance of most applications degrade as the distance grows between branch offices and the data centre. WAN optimization solves this problem and has become a prerequisite for many enterprises. Many enterprise customers are now turning to managed services from service providers such as CPCNet to deliver their WAN optimisation solutions.
