FNT Software has partnered with Colt Data Centre Services to deliver solutions to boost the colocation market.
The partnership enables both companies together to identify some of the noticeable challenges with delivering services in a colocation context.
One of the challenges found is that the data centre infrastructure management (DCIM) solution market is disappointingly covered, Romain Tranchant, Operational Systems Manager, Colt Data Centre Services said: “When we initially decided to look for a DCIM solution, we found the market to be very disappointingly covered, seeing from the perspective of a colocation provider.”
Colt DCS found that typically solutions were focused on assets in racks. This is one of the reasons why it agreed to partner with FNT, whose solution takes a different approach by providing in-depth analytics and enabling colocation providers to develop effective optimisation measures.
FNT and Colt have already begun working on the development of a new customer-facing portal, which according to FNT will enable Colt DCS to deliver value-add services to its customers.
FNT’s solution offers services such as remote asset management, which helps colocation providers get all needed functionality to help create efficient and reliable service.
The two companies have previously worked together to deploy a DCIM implementation project that is powered by FNT Command, a solution for data centres providing transparency. The solution includes an embedded connectivity layer for integrating with a range of data centre systems.
Tranchant said: “We did not simply need a DCIM solution to manage our data centres, but a more comprehensive solution, with which we could answer both of our own and our customers’ short and long term requirements.”
Already used by over 500 clients around the world, FNT and Colt have spent the past six months implementing the solution across Colt’s 22 data centres in Europe. One of which, includes its recent data centre site in Frankfurt launched in 2016.
Following this, the same process was then transferred across Colt’s data centre sites in Asia, adding an additional seven locations to include DCIM functionality.
From this implementation, the companies are now deploying the relationship in order to develop solutions that are suitable for the colocation industry.
Soreen Juul Scroeder, Vice President UK/Ireland & Nordics/Baltics at FNT Software said: “Colt DCS knew what they wanted, but also where they wanted to see efficiencies. The partnership has already provided FNT with unique insights into the daily life of a leading colocation provider, and consequently, resulted in many improvements to the FNT offer for that segment.”
FNT is a provider of software solutions for IT, data centre and telecommunications management developed the command solution provide a centralised management and optimisation solution, which is in use to support all collocation facilities.
