Bergamo-based Cortis Lentini SpA’s Electronic Data Interchange product, EDI Manager, runs on Hewlett-Packard Co’s proprietary HP 3000, under MPE V and MPX1 and on HP 9000 under HP-UX Unix. It can be interfaced with hardware from the likes of Digital Equipment Corp and Bull SA with a bridge. Dr Paolo Laudi said that although EDI was relatively new to Italy, it had attracted interest, particularly in the banking and insurance world He added that it was bound to succeed as Italy uses a lot of paper.
