Verizon’s cloud service is back online after a forty-hour outage.

The New York-based broadband and telecommunications company stated in a press release that the downtime had been used to undertake system maintenance.

The maintenance will allow the service to be upgraded in the future without this kind of interruption to customers.

Verizon has also updated the user interface for Verizon Cloud Marketplace, which was launched in November with the aim of simplifying migration to the cloud.

The company has also added new administrative tools to the service that will make it easier to review the virtual machines, disks and other resources being used for a particular project.

The scheduled maintenance was announced last Wednesday, with Verizon admitting that the downtime could last as long as two days.

"We see Verizon continue to invest in Verizon Cloud," said William Fellows, co-founder and research vice president, 451 Research.

"Infrastructure improvements that have a positive impact on availability and the customer experience position Verizon Cloud well for continued market adoption."
