Switzerland-based agri-business firm Syngenta has signed a seven-year infrastructure services agreement with HP, to use HP Cloud Computing Solutions supported from HP data centres.
As part of the agreement, Syngenta will move parts of its technology infrastructure to a private cloud computing environment for secure processing capacity and real-time data access, allowing it to adjust quickly to changing business conditions at a predictable cost.
With the new cloud model, Syngenta can operate a test environment in the cloud where new concepts are tested in research and development and the new cloud model provides an environment with flexibility for expansion where Syngenta only pays for the compute capacity it consumes.
Syngenta’s data is protected by a set of HP Security Services that provide comprehensive oversight of the private cloud environment in compliance with Syngenta’s security policies and standards.
HP will deliver a tiered services model for Syngenta’s Service Desk and Site Support Services to modernise the digital workplace, including computing devices such as desktop and notebook PCs and printers.
Syngenta Business Services head Martin Walker said they have embarked on a new era of productivity and innovation to help growers around the world.

HP Europe, Middle East and Africa Enterprise Services senior vice-president and general manager Mike Nefkens said companies like Syngenta need to be able to manage unpredictable factors driven by both economies and nature and therefore require a flexible and agile technology infrastructure.
