Opera Software, a provider of cross-platform Web-browser technology, has extended its support for the ViXS platform providing Opera’s browser to more connected home devices.
Opera said that by porting Opera to the ViXS platform, applications built with Web technology and standard cloud-based applications can easily be implemented on ViXS-powered devices.
Opera delivers a full-featured Internet experience, allowing developers and device manufacturers to incorporate the power of Opera into their devices.
According to the company, users can access full Web 2.0 experience, e.g., YouTube, plus access content of the main browser, by using Opera Widgets.
ViXS’ XCode 4210 is an embedded media processor which provides features and technologies to replicate the PC Web-browsing experience in user electronics products.
The XCode 4210 features full HD advanced 3D graphics complying to the OpenGL-ES 2.0 model; support for full HD 3D TV including leading DTV and Blu-ray standards and video post processing; and the ability to enable multiple multimedia processing tasks simultaneously.
Opera Software chief development officer Christen Krogh said bringing the Opera browser to ViXS-powered devices can open up the potential for new applications.
