Lenovo has unveiled Skylight, an ARM-based processor smartbook device based on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset platform.
The new Skylight comes with sleek and slim design, 10-inch screen, 10hrs of active battery life, custom interface with live web gadgets and built-in WiFi and 3G connectivity. It provides access to Gmail, facebook, YouTube or browse the internet by connecting to AT&T’s 3G mobile broadband service in the US.
According to Lenovo, the new smartbook powered by the Qualcomm 1GHz Snapdragon chipset platform, weighs less than two pounds and comes with a choice of two new vibrant colors, glossy lotus blue and earth red models. It features 20GB of standard flash and 2GB of cloud storage.
The company said that the Snapdragon platform offers a combination of mobile processing performance, optimised power consumption, connectivity and multimedia in a single chip.
Peter Gaucher, executive director of mobile internet product management at Lenovo, said: “Skylight combines the long battery life and connectivity of a smartphone with the full web browsing and multimedia experience of a netbook to create one of the first devices in this developing smartbook category.”
The Lenovo Skylight smartbook is expected to be available in April 2010 in the US and later this year in China and Europe with prices starting at $499.
