Dell Wyse has released its new D class cloud client family, which includes thin clients and cloud PCs which the company claims offers enhanced system performance, multimedia capabilities and energy efficiency in a compact desktop device.

The new cloud client family serves as a mid-range desktop client within Dell’s Desktop Virtualization Solutions (DVS) lineup consisting of servers, storage, networking and services that extend from the data centre to the end user.

The Dell Wyse D class cloud client family is comprised of: D90D7 thin client, D90DW thin client, D00D cloud PC and D50D thin client.

The D class clients will provide users with access to line-of-business information from virtualised environments from Citrix, Dell, Microsoft and VMware.

With the new D class family, organisations can design and personalise application profiles according to their needs, while users benefit from several I/O interface options for enhanced multimedia support, Dell said.

Dell Wyse D class cloud clients provide mid-market and large organisations with flexible networking, peripheral connectivity, OS and storage options, yet are easy for IT teams to manage.

The D90D7 thin client includes firmware based on Microsoft Windows Embedded Standard 7, while the D90DW thin client includes firmware based on Microsoft Windows Embedded Standard 2009.

Both D90D7 and D90DW offers support for peripherals, local Internet Explorer browser, local terminal emulation and support for connections to virtual infrastructures based on Citrix, Microsoft and VMware technologies.

Dell Wyse D00D cloud PC delivers the benefits of cloud computing using Dell Wyse WSM provisioning software. Although a cloud PC environment is centrally managed, all applications can be executed locally.

D50D thin client is based on Dell Wyse-enhanced SUSE Linux Enterprise operating system which offers security, flexibility and usability.

All of the new clients are supported by Dell Wyse advanced virtualisation and management software products, including management and automatic configuration from Dell Wyse Device Manager (WDM) and Dell Wyse Configuration Manager (WCM), user experience optimisation and acceleration through Dell Wyse TCX and Dell Wyse Virtual Desktop Accelerator (VDA) software.

The D class is based on the same high performance technology as Dell Wyse’s Z class cloud client family. They also feature a Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 a/b/g/n single or dual band wireless and Bluetooth connectivity that suit virtually all local access scenarios.
