CSC has launched a new Dynamic Server product, which enables enterprise clients to acquire server, storage and network services on-demand.

The company said that the new product is designed to be delivered in multiple ways, in client data centres as a private cloud platform; in CSC data centres as a private cloud platform; and in CSC data centres with multi-tenant capabilities to optimise cost.

According to CSC, the Dynamic Server product features include security, a web browser interface that permits clients to select from multiple operating systems, choice of CPU and memory size, and integration with existing electronic procurement systems that leverage clients’ purchasing policies and procedures.

The Dynamic Server with automated provisioning capabilities also enables clients to select, order and receive infrastructure services in minutes, the company claims.

The server product is delivered to the marketplace in conjunction with the Virtual Computing Environment coalition and the Vblock architecture.

Vblock Infrastructure Packages are integrated, tested and validated data centre infrastructure offerings that combine virtualisation software from VMware, unified networking, security, computing from Cisco and storage, security and management technologies from EMC.

Vblock Infrastructure Packages support a range of operating systems and applications that enable customers to migrate existing applications to Vblock infrastructure to accelerate data centre virtualisation, the company said.

Siki Giunta, vice president of cloud computing and software services at CSC, said: “Dynamic Server jump starts our clients’ journey to building a cloud fabric for their business, instantly yielding lower operating costs, reduced risk and greater delivery agility.

“We are particularly pleased to deliver this to the marketplace in conjunction with the Virtual Computing Environment coalition; the Vblock architecture will enable clients to realise value faster and improve performance. This builds on CSC’s long standing heritage of quality, agility and innovation.
