Citrix and Wyse have unveiled the Wyse Xenith, a zero client with Citrix HDX technology, which it claims to ensure a high-definition HDX user experience, lowering the barriers for mainstream adoption of desktop virtualisation.

Rhe new Wyse Xenith zero client with Citrix HDX design requires no local configuration or management, has virtually no attack surface for malware, auto-discovers XenDesktop right out of the box, and launches a full Windows desktop, the companies said.

The companies claim that the new Xenith zero client benefits include, zero configuration, zero delays and zero viruses. The native support for Citrix HDX allows users to receive a high definition user experience each time they access their virtual desktop.

Tarkan Maner, CEO at Wyse, said: “Desktop virtualisation and cloud computing will render the old PC hardware model obsolete. With the introduction of the Wyse Xenith zero client, the first adaptable, no-compromise, Citrix HDX-fluent zero client, we’ve realised a vision to deliver the benefits of high-performance virtual computing without the limitations associated with PC computing.”

The new Wyse Xenith zero client is expected to be available from June 2010.
