Apple is offering Mac OS 10.5 Leopard users a free upgrade to OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard as an incentive to migrate to iCloud.

Macgasm blog reports that Apple is emailing MobileMe customers notifying the offer which includes a free install DVD of the operating system, Mac OS X 10.6, for those still running an older Leopard version.

Apple email reportedly gives a three-step process for the free upgrade offer, which is until June 15.

Apple recommends that users open the Mac App Store, and pay $29.99 for the current Mac OS X Lion software and then register for iCloud.

Apple will officially close MobileMe on June 30 this year, which means the current users are just months away to upgrade to iCloud or may run the risk of losing their data.

MobileMe subscribers who migrate to iCloud will retain their email addresses, contacts, calendar and bookmarks.

Apple has also created a page where the customers can request their free copy of Snow Leopard.

The company debuted its Snow Leopard in 2009.
