Blackberry is to provide Google with its mobile security software BES12 for the company’s ‘Android for Work’ tool.
Android for Work helps users separate their personal and professional applications and data on smartphones.
The security solution will be integrated with Android OS to provide platform-level containerisation, and to create a secure, dedicated profile for business data and applications.
With BES12 users will also be able to manage their devices remotely.
According to BlackBerry, the software will also eradicate the need for application wrapping, and provide BlackBerry’s gold standard of mobile security.
According to reports, the company is trying to broaden its customer base and the latest move could be BlackBerry’s attempt to promote its BES12 software to Android users.
BlackBerry Enterprise Products and Value Added Solutions EVP Billy Ho said: "BlackBerry is working with Google to provide customers with solutions they can confidently deploy on all major mobile platforms within their organisation.
"Android for Work with BES12 will provide customers with another option to enhance their mobile security and the productivity of their employees, and the peace of mind that they will not have to relinquish any control over corporate data, sacrifice user experience or introduce more complexity into their environments."
