Bay Networks Inc has introduced Bay Networks Service, a portfolio of network service and support offerings. The programme, which will be offered directly through Bay’s customer support organisation, as well as via its authorised resellers, will comprise four groups: Professional Services; Educational Services; Information Services; and Maintenance Services. The Professional Services group will provide network audits, design services, security systems and network management, says the company. Customised services for individual clients will also be offered. The Educational Services group will offer a complete curriculum of training. This will be delivered via Bay’s training centres, at customer sites, or through video- or computer-managed instruction. Information Services will offer system information, software patches and technical documentation and tips, says Bay. Access to this will be via CompuServe, InfoFACTS facsimile-on-demand, Support Wire on-line information and the World Wide Web, adds the San Jose firm. Maintenance Services will offer round-the-clock telephone support, says Bay, and provide users with a set of contract and per-incident offerings, including full- or part-time on-site installation and maintenance support, and proactive network planning. Finally, building on its on-site hardware support deal with Unisys Corp, the firm says it has entered agreements with Norsk Data Systems Ltd and Irish Cargo Ltd to deliver logistics services, including return and repair services, to Bay customers within the European Community. FedEx Logistics Services and Circuit Test Inc will offer similar services in the US with FedEx also doing the honours in Asia/Pacific, while IBM Corp will look after Australia.
