Austin, Texas-based Activant said the deal will increase its 18,000-strong user base to more than 20,000. It said it has targeted growth in the lumber and building materials sector, automotive aftermarket, wholesale trade, and hardware and home center retailing, and believes the Speedware product line will help it grow in these areas. It is also anxious to acquire Speedware’s OpenERP software for the SME sector.
In the year to December 31, Speedware increased net income by 15.5% to CDN 5.1m ($4.1m) on revenue 72.9% higher at CDN 44.4m ($36.1m).
