Level 3 Communications has launched the Content Analytics service, a new reporting platform for Content Delivery Network (CDN) customers that provides insight into traffic delivery patterns and web site audiences.
Level 3 said that the new reporting platform, a component of the its Media Portal, reports on the assets a web site’s audience is using, how they found the site, their geographic location and other information.
According to Level 3, the new reporting platform tracks up to 100,000 URLs per CDN caching property. It allows customers to track assets using customer-defined ‘collections’ that can be crafted to answer a variety of business and operational questions.
In addition, it can be configured to work with customers’ own content library structure and content publication workflow, giving access to data that would otherwise be difficult to capture.
Peter Neill, senior vice president of content markets group at Level 3, said: “Level 3’s Content Analytics service is about more than just bytes and hits, it’s about delivering innovative analytical tools that our customers can use to manage and grow their businesses.
We developed Content Analytics to allow CDN customers to get a clearer understanding of how their online content is being consumed. That knowledge can result in better web site planning, better user experiences and, ultimately, the opportunity for our customers to monetise their web site environments more successfully.”
