Internap Network Services, a provider of IT infrastructure services, has launched XIPCloud Storage, a new public cloud storage service in beta stage.
The new XIPCloud Storage is based on OpenStack, an open technology platform that promotes interoperability and eliminates vendor "lock-in."
The OpenStack’s Object Storage software is designed to enable a scalable and redundant public cloud offering that can store petabytes of data, allowing users to leverage third-party tools that enable them to move content in and out of storage without requiring any development work on their end.
In addition, the XIPCloud Storage features self-provisioning capabilities that allow customers to log into a Web portal and purchase storage capacity and network bandwidth as needed, with the ability to scale services up or down.
Internap senior vice president of technology Scott Hrastar said XIPCloud Storage delivers reliable, scalable storage that can be provisioned in an instant, operating at the speed of business.
"Our public cloud storage service will leverage the proven benefits of the OpenStack platform combined with our own global footprint and high-performance connectivity," Hrastar said.
The company said that the new XIPCloud Storage leverages on its Performance IP technology to provide high-availability offering backed by a 100% Service Level Agreement (SLA).
