Fujitsu has launched its new ETERNUS CD10000 storage system that can store hyper scale data volumes.

In a bid to assure data redundancy among nodes, the system’s Ceph open source distributed file system software will automatically allocate data and reduce processing loads on any given node.

According to the company, the capacity of the new storage system can be extended to about 56PB with the addition of up to 224 storage nodes, which integrate disks with controllers that control data input-output.

The system allows integrating nodes without shutting down the system, which further scales up the capacity in a flexible and timely manner due to rise in processing levels.

During the process of exchanging ETERNUS CD10000 hardware, which is done by swapping out old nodes for new nodes sequentially, data will be transferred to the new nodes without downtime, the company claims.

ETERNUS CD10000 is also the Fujitsu’s first storage system to support the object access method, which allocates a particular ID to content and administers it together with its attribute data, further enabling flexibility in content management as per the attribute information.

The system’s support to block access method allows it to select the access method in proportion to the application.
