According to Research In Motion (RIM), its BlackBerry Bold supports tri-band HSDPA high-speed networks and comes with integrated GPS and Wi-Fi. It also features QWERTY keyboard, 128MB flash memory plus 1GB on-board storage memory, as well as a microSD/SDHC memory card slot with support for up to 16GB and two megapixel camera with video recording capability, built-in flash and digital zoom.
The QWERTY keyboard works in conjunction with a real-time software system that incorporates a large word database (approximately 35,000 words with the user’s address book), linguistic intelligence and advanced learning capabilities to automatically interpret keystrokes made by the user and recognize words with accuracy.
The BlackBerry Bold from Taiwan Mobile aims at business professionals and power users and comes with a hybrid QWERTY-BoPoMoFo keyboard for Chinese input.

In September 2008, NTT DOCOMO and RIM announced plans to launch the 3G/HSDPA BlackBerry Bold smartphone for customers in Japan by early 2009. According to the plan, the BlackBerry Bold smartphone leverages DOCOMO’s high-speed 3G and HSDPA networks. It also includes the new BlackBerry Media Sync application, enabling customers to synchronize iTunes digital music collections with the smartphone.
