Networking firm Cisco has acquired California based privately owned company, Virtuata for undisclosed sum, which will provide it new tools related to cloud computing and data-center infrastructure.
Both of them will work together to enable consistent and enhanced security for virtual machines allowing customers to accelerate the deployment of multi-tenant, multi-hypervisor cloud infrastructures.
The acquisition reinforces Cisco’s build, buy, partner framework and also complements to Cisco’s vision of a unified data centre that securely connects people, businesses with applications and data through virtual and cloud environments, the company said.
Virtuata will enable Cisco to meet its strategic goals to develop virtualisation, cloud and security technologies, while also cultivating top talent.
The acquisition will also help Cisco to deliver an intelligent network by providing an enhanced infrastructure across the data centre.
Following the acquisition, Virtuata team will join Cisco’s Data Center Group led by David Yen, senior vice president, Data Center Group.
