Backup solutions provider Acronis has made one of its products available for Mac OS users.
Its ExtremeZ-IP software product, designed to tackle network degradation and file corruption, now supports Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks, harmonising Apple Mac use on Windows servers.
Acronis said this should solve incompatibility issues caused by the different communication protocols used when accessing Windows file, print, and NAS servers from a Mac.
Youssef Slitine, senior IT manager at Public Access Corporation in Washington D.C., said: "ExtremeZ-IP solved the compatibility and performance issues our Mac users. At the same time, it significantly reduced the number of support calls to our IT help desk."
"Today’s release demonstrates Acronis’s continued commitment to making it even easier for enterprise IT administrators to integrate the latest Mac operating systems and Apple devices into their networks," said Brian Ulmer, director of product management.
He added that the product will be kept current with the latest Apple technology in future.
