Workday, an enterprise cloud applications provider for finance and human resources, has signed a deal with IBM to use IBM Cloud for the development and testing of its cloud-based applications.

Workday has signed the seven year deal to run its development and testing services on IBM’s cloud. IBM is confident that moving to IBM Cloud will improve the efficiency, flexibility and scalability of Workday, significantly.

IBM Cloud services will become Workday’s primary platform for development and testing and will also provide important capacity expansion that will support the SaaS vendor in its growing requirements. The two companies did not disclose any financial details about the strategic partnership.

Workday runs part of its services through AWS and choosing IBM for its business could mean that it wants to expand its business drastically.

Workday co-founder and CEO Aneel Bhusri said: “IBM and Workday are both delivering transformative applications and services in the cloud.

“Workday will use IBM Cloud to continue accelerating Workday’s internal development and testing efforts to support our ongoing global expansion.”

IBM Cloud senior vice president Robert LeBlanc said: "Leading enterprises like Workday continue to turn to IBM Cloud for its global reach, flexibility, and resiliency.

“Through a preferred cloud partnership with IBM, Workday can accelerate its innovation efforts to better serve clients around the world.”
