Unisys Corp has won a five-year, $258m, contract from the Department of Defense’s Defense Information Systems Agency to provide support for eight information processing megacenters. The megacenters support DOD functions such as logistics, personnel and finance. Under the contract, Unisys will provide software licenses, software maintenance support, hardware leases, and maintenance of leased hardware for up to 84 Unisys mainframe systems, front-end communications processors and associated peripherals. In addition to the megacenters, the contract covers about 200 locations in the US, Europe and the Pacific for the Army, Air Force, Navy, National Guard and NATO. The mainframes supported under the contract are Unisys 2200 Series and the software includes the Unisys OS 2200 operating system, database management systems, communications support, programming tools and system utilities.
