Santa Cruz, California-based TGV Inc has announced Phase/IP, which is designed for use with its MultiNet Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol product, which is said to enable DECnet applications to run over TCP/IP without any modification to networking commands, and without recoding, retraining or redesign. TGV says the offering simplifies network administration by eliminating the requirements and the shortcomings of DECnet, which are claimed to include routing, naming, and network size limitations. Phase/IP is currently in beta release and will be generally available in November. It is priced from $360 to $7,200, depending on the model of VAX or Alpha AXP box.
